Join friends to celebrate the culture, history and natural resources of the St. Croix River watershed aboard a historic paddle wheeler!
This scenic paddle wheel tour through the St. Croix River Dalles will feature the music and stories of Frank “Anakwad” Montano, acclaimed flutist and revered elder from the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.
Hear stories of the St. Croix River and national heritage areas, see the Dalles of the lower St. Croix, visit with friends, and support the mission of North Woods & Waters of the St. Croix Heritage Area!

Frank “Anakwad” Montano
Frank “Anakwad” Montano is a world-renowned Native American flutist and contemporary Native American musician. He was born and lives on the Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa in northern Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Superior. Anakwad (Cloud) of the Eagle clan is a revered elder who continues to preserve Miskwaabekong (Red Cliff) culture through traditional dance, flute, storytelling, and teaching.
Over the course of his career, he has received numerous awards and certificates of recognition including the 2011 Native American Music Award in recognition of the rerelease of his compilation, “Reservation Reflections.”
In addition to performing nationally, Anakwad has captivated audiences in Croatia, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Canada and Mexico.
