Ways to Get Involved

Thank you so much for your interest in North Woods and Waters of the St. Croix Heritage Area.  We are honored that you would consider contributing your valuable time to serve the watershed in this unique way. We have described many of them here, but this list is not complete, and we love new ideas!  Let us know how you’d like to be involved by sending an e-mail to info@northwoodsandwaters.org.

Donate

NWW is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and relies on financial contributions of all amounts in order to carry out our goals. All contributions are tax-deductible. To donate, please contact info@northwoodsandwaters.org or use the ‘Donate’ button below to give a gift through PayPal.

Serve on the Board of Directors

NWW is a non-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors. Our Board may have up to 17 elected Directors, with an additional four permanent positions allocated to representatives from the four sovereign nations that have tribal lands within the watershed. Board members serve 3-year terms and can be elected to three terms.

Participate on one of our committees

These committees carry out the goals of the heritage area: Programs and Projects, Communications Education and Outreach, Board and Organizational Development, and Finance and Development. You may serve on a committee as long as you wish.  Most people serve two or more years, but it’s up to you and the committee chair.

Join NWW as an Advisor

Many people have subject matter expertise or non-profit experience and are interested in NWW’s mission but cannot serve on the Board.  They serve as advisors for as long as they choose to be involved.

Become a Heritage Area Ambassador

Ambassadors live in the watershed and represent a specific community. They are the “pollinators” of the watershed, sharing information about their community with NWW and sharing information about NWW with their community.  They are the eyes and the ears of NWW within the watershed.

Volunteer with specific activities or events

Volunteer with specific activities or events that interest you. We’re always planning watershed events and activities, many of which need volunteers. There are many behind-the-scenes volunteer needs right now, as well!

Become a St. Croix Master Watershed Steward

As a result of an EPA grant, we have 32 trained and certified Master Watershed Stewards. While the program is currently not accepting new stewards, the leadership of this group is hoping to secure funding soon in order to expand the program. If you’re interested in this possibility, please let us know. In the meantime, this group is coordinating our pollinator program along with other projects, so there are tangible ways to become involved with their efforts right away.
