Stillwater 4th of July Celebration

4th of July Fireworks in Lowell Park Civil War Cannons: Battery 1, 1st US Artillery will have live cannons firing demonstrations at 3 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm and 7 pm on Mulberry Point in Lowell Park. Live Music Shows: Enjoy a free concert from Hero's End at 5:30 pm followed by Audio Circus at 8 pm at the Amphitheater Stage in Lowell Park. The St. Croix Jazz Orchestra will be at the Pioneer Park Bandshell at 7 pm. Fireworks: A spectacular firework show will begin at dusk (approx. 10 pm) over the St. Croix River and Historic Lift Bridge. All paid parking lots are $10/day on July 4th.

Fly Fishing 101

Have you ever wanted to learn how to fly fish but don’t have gear? Are you beginning your fly fishing journey but can’t quite nail a perfect cast? Let Wild Rivers Conservancy and the St. Croix National Scenic Riverway reveal the mysteries of fly fishing to you! By the end of this dry land course, you’ll have all the knowledge you’ll need to catch your first fish on the fly! Thanks to a grant from the National Park Foundation, we will provide all the necessary equipment and teach you the basics such as knot tying, fly casting, wading safety, fish species identification, regulations & ethics. All you need to bring is a positive attitude, weather-appropriate clothing and water bottle! This course is recommended for 13 years old and older. Meet your instructor: October Yates is an avid outdoorsman throughout the midwest. He has been kayaking and fishing since his youth, and adventured up and down the coast from Washington to Alaska. Songwriting for Community Singing

Immersed in water and woods, this gathering offers a space to let your creative songwriting and song-leading loose in a safe, guided setting. Each songwriting session includes tips, prompts, and relaxed space to write your own lyrics and music while paddling down the St. Croix National Scenic River or wandering the woods. Together we’ll explore writing zipper songs, rounds, chants, call and response, and layered harmonies that are simple and effective for collective group singing. Each day participants will teach their newly created songs to the group, and practice community song-leading skills. Our facilitator, Jane Ramseyer Miller, will coach each artist to build confidence and joy as a song-leader. Are you a poet that wants to work with an emerging songwriter? We can pair artists up to create songs as a team. Want to write songs but not lead them? No problem. Anyone, regardless of skill level or experience, is welcome. Registration: Artists may choose between indoor housing and camping on the grounds. The weekend concludes with a community singing session with invited friends and family, and an opportunity to lead and share the songs you have created. There are only eight beds available in the house, and they will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The spaces are shared with access to private restrooms.
