"Summertime Joy" Exhibition

Featuring selections from Virginia Randolph Bueide’s beguiling “Passage” and “Picnic” series, and the joyful florals of Carmen Duran, this lively exhibit embraces the color and warmth of summertime. REFUGEE VOICES: An Evening with Author Kao Kalia Yang

Presented by Trinity Lutheran Church at Trinity Lutheran Church Stillwater, MN

Kao Kalia Yang—best-selling author, teacher and poet—will speak at Trinity at 6:30pm. She will address her journey as a refugee, her latest book which explores a young Hmong-American’s search for a true home, and the importance of welcoming refugees. Yang is the author of the acclaimed The Late Homecomer: A Hmong Family Memoir, The Song Poet, as well as a wide array of adult, young adult, and children’s books. Her works have won seven Minnesota Books Awards, among other honors. She is a McKnight Arts Fellow and a frequent lecturer. The event is free and open to the public. Doors will open at 6:00 with seating on a first come, first served basis. Yang’s talk will be followed by a Q&A session and a book signing with books available through Valley Booksellers. The Trinity Missions team thanks the Stillwater Public Library and Stillwater Public Library Foundation for helping to sponsor this program.

This show is open to all active CAB members and will be a visible feast of eclectic art of all media types from painting and pottery to glass, photography, and art to wear. Unforgotten Washington County Stories from the Korean War

The Korean War (1950–1953) is often called the “Forgotten War,” overshadowed by World War II that ended just five years earlier. But in Washington County, it is anything but forgotten. Eleven local men were killed in action during the war, and their stories continue to live on in the memories of families, friends, and the community they left behind. Their service, sacrifice, and experiences form a powerful chapter in our shared history. Visit the Washington County Historic Courthouse to explore an exhibit that brings these stories to life.
