"Unique Visions: Earth, Fiber, Pigment" Exhibition

Earth, Fiber and Pigment become the foundation for three distinct artistic visions, featuring the work of Lisa Buck, Morgan Clifford, and Anne Landreman. Through thoughtful composition, luminous color and richly layered surfaces, each artist reveals the expressive potential of their chosen medium inviting viewers to experience the familiar in unexpected ways. Exhibit runs July 24 - September 11, 2026. Artist Reception: Friday, August 7th from 5-8pm All proceeds from sales, net of expenses, are donated for the benefit of general programming at The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, WI. Botanical Cyanotype Art Class

Presented by The Outing Lodge at Pine Point at The Outing Lodge at Pine Point Stillwater, MN

Students will begin by gathering leaves, grasses, and botanical treasures from the surrounding landscape to use in their sun prints. Guided through the cyanotype process step by step, participants will learn how to arrange natural elements and expose them to light to create beautiful blue-and-white prints rich with detail and texture. This three hour workshop encourages creativity, observation, and a deeper connection to the natural world while creating a one-of-a-kind artwork suitable for framing and display. (If cloudy, sun prints will not develop, so we will create nature prints as a backup project.) Please note, class price is $90 after August 10th.

Join us for this fun family-friendly DIY workshop! Create a unique home decor item utilizing a variety of tools and techniques, our in-house collection of paints and non-toxic stains while guided by our crafty instructors. Choose between a Wood home decor project, a doormat, candle pouring and scent mixology or a chunky knit blanket. This is a 2 - 3 hour DIY experience. Advanced registration is required so we have time to prep your custom materials. Please note we designate 3 hours for this workshop experience, however some guests may complete their project faster and may leave at any time.

Steamboats, Towboats, and River History

Please stop in and explore the history of our waters. We have nearly 1300 photos playing on 5 screens of Steamboats, Towboats, Logging, Ferries, Bridges, and general river history. Artifacts from the St. Croix river bottom. Real equipment from the towboats industry. Models from early 1900s vessels. A river fire in Hastings, MN. What is a wing dam? The history of the Prescott Spinner Company from 1920 to early 1940s is on display. Pilot licenses, stories, articles and more. And next summer 2026 we will continue our successful River History Speaker series, all 5 this summer were smash hits, the only thing our attendees asked for was more. So next summer we hope to offer 8 speakers to our offerings for Friday nights. And who knows what will come in the door tomorrow as people continue to bring us more items, stories, and more river related materials.

Unforgotten Washington County Stories from the Korean War

Presented by Washington County Parks at Washington County Historic Courthouse Stillwater, MN

The Korean War (1950–1953) is often called the “Forgotten War,” overshadowed by World War II that ended just five years earlier. But in Washington County, it is anything but forgotten. Eleven local men were killed in action during the war, and their stories continue to live on in the memories of families, friends, and the community they left behind. Their service, sacrifice, and experiences form a powerful chapter in our shared history. Visit the Washington County Historic Courthouse to explore an exhibit that brings these stories to life.

Enchanting Tales of Nyckelharpa & Näcken

Presented by Stillwater Public Library at Stillwater Public Library Stillwater, MN

Explore the rich folklore woven into Nordic Folk Music, including legends of the Näcken, a shapeshifting spirit with the power to enchant musicians and their instruments. Once enchanted, their music held the extraordinary ability to make chairs dance and stop waterfalls. Musicians themselves could cast spells at one another, necessitating protective measures like a trollpåse hidden in their instrument. Discover the intriguing magic chart crafted by a Swedish musician in the mid 1800's, which connected musical keys with colors, seasons, and emotions. His fiddle and music book immigrated to Minnesota with his son in the late 1800's. Registration encouraged but not required. This program was funded by the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund, also known as Legacy Funding.

River Falls: 250 Years Ago

1776 TWO WORLDS, ONE YEAR When Americans declared independence in 1776, the future River Falls area was not an empty frontier waiting to be settled. It was part of a living Indigenous landscape-a shared homeland and borderland where Dakota (Sioux) and Anishinaabe/Ojibwe (Chippewa) peoples maintained deep connections to the land and waterways of the St. Croix Valley. While revolution transformed Britain's Atlantic colonies more than 1,000 miles to the east, the Kinnickinnic and St. Croix valleys remained part of a long-inhabited Indigenous landscape. The community known today as River Falls would not be founded for another seventy years.

Embracing “wabi sabi”, Ken Krautbauer’s digital photography vibrates with heightened color and intensified shadow and texture. Jennifer King’s stoneware pottery is both functional and playful, buzzing with bees, subtle washes, and pools of glassy glaze. Sushila Anderson takes a modern approach to the glass medium by combining unique materials, mosaic, and stained glass in vibrant colors to create bold portraits and ornate designs.
