Presented by Washington County Parks at Washington County Historic Courthouse Stillwater, MN
The Korean War (1950–1953) is often called the “Forgotten War,” overshadowed by World War II that ended just five years earlier. But in Washington County, it is anything but forgotten. Eleven local men were killed in action during the war, and their stories continue to live on in the memories of families, friends, and the community they left behind. Their service, sacrifice, and experiences form a powerful chapter in our shared history. Visit the Washington County Historic Courthouse to explore an exhibit that brings these stories to life.

River Falls: 250 Years Ago
Presented by River Falls Public Library at River Falls Public Library
TICKETS ARE NOT NEEDED TO ATTEND 1776 TWO WORLDS, ONE YEAR When Americans declared independence in 1776, the future River Falls area was not an empty frontier waiting to be settled. It was part of a living Indigenous landscape-a shared homeland and borderland where Dakota (Sioux) and Anishinaabe/Ojibwe (Chippewa) peoples maintained deep connections to the land and waterways of the St. Croix Valley. While revolution transformed Britain's Atlantic colonies more than 1,000 miles to the east, the Kinnickinnic and St. Croix valleys remained part of a long-inhabited Indigenous landscape. The community known today as River Falls would not be founded for another seventy years.

Upon Further Reflection
Presented by ArtReach St. Croix at ArtReach St. Croix Stillwater, MN
While each of these artists work with portraiture, the true connecting points are found deep underneath. Viewers are asked to look again. Do you see it now? In Minneapolis photographer Miguel Joven’s haunting portraits, the images are intentionally imperfect, a quality he has spent years perfecting. Don’t be fooled by the colorful and sometimes humorous subject matter of River Falls painter Megan Riley’s work. Her still-life and portrait work oscillates between coverage and exposure. Minneapolis artist Eric Zuccola is obsessed with visuals and text. His collage and mixed media works are, “realistic depictions of uncanny things.” On view: October 8 – November 14, 2026 Artist Reception: Thursday, October 8th, 6-8pm ArtReach St. Croix’s Royal Credit Union Foundation Gallery Hours ALWAYS FREE AND OPEN TO EVERYONE Wednesday & Friday, 10am-4pm Thursday, 10am-7pm Saturday, 12-4pm ArtReach St. Croix 224 North 4th Street, Stillwater, MN 55082 (651) 439-1465 www.artreachstcroix.org FB: @ArtReachSTX | IG: @artreach_stcroix This exhibition is a part of programming at ArtReach St. Croix whose mission is to connect communities and the arts. Heaven and Nature, A Poetry Reading by Thomas R. Smith
Presented by River Falls Public Library at River Falls Public Library
Join us in person at the River Falls Public Library or virtual on the virtual on the RFPL Facebook or YouTube page for a poetry reading by local Author, Thomas R. Smith's latest book. The evening will wrap up with an open mic session. Attendees can sign up for five minute time slots the night of the event. Heaven and Nature poems Thomas R. Smith Heaven and Nature brings together the natural world, the transcendent world of human eros, and the contradictory beauty of our mortality. In the midst of an array of narratives and reflections, the poet is keen to highlight glimmers of a paradisal element in our experience. Part one, “Wild Belonging,” takes us through a seasonal cycle—birds, insects, and plants observed near the Kinnickinnic River in western Wisconsin. Part two, “Stay,” celebrates the transitory nature of the lives we mourn, both public figures (Jack Kerouac and Rachel Carson are two) and personal friends held in memory. Inevitably, these poems also memorialize vivid shared moments of personal history. In part three, “Heart Jukebox,” the poet returns to the world of immediate experience: the “magnificent here and now.” Artists and musicians are celebrated, inspirations as varied as a rural sculptor, a young bluegrass band, a foreign film star, and the Beatles. A handful of poems of mature love conclude the section. Amid the ebb and flow of seasons and relationships, with its losses, dissonnances, and disappointments, the book sustains a steady undercurrent of joy. Readers struggling to identify elements of our world that…
