With Shadow Puppetry a form that elicits the fantastic, the humorous in a magical and fun filled way. Welcome to Shadow Puppetry! Shadow Puppetry is an ancient yet contemporary form of animation. Using cut silhouettes, light, a screen and sound, students will learn basic puppet fabrication techniques, develop content with the goal to create a short table top Shadow Play for an in-class performance. Invite your family and friends to be amazed and moved by your Show! The class will be in four 2 hour weekly sessions. I: Fabrication Techniques. The possibilities of content and story. Unforgotten Washington County Stories from the Korean War

Presented by Washington County Parks at Washington County Historic Courthouse Stillwater, MN

The Korean War (1950–1953) is often called the “Forgotten War,” overshadowed by World War II that ended just five years earlier. But in Washington County, it is anything but forgotten. Eleven local men were killed in action during the war, and their stories continue to live on in the memories of families, friends, and the community they left behind. Their service, sacrifice, and experiences form a powerful chapter in our shared history. Visit the Washington County Historic Courthouse to explore an exhibit that brings these stories to life.

Log Run Half Marathon

The Log Run Half Marathon, 10 Mile, 10K and 5K race originated back in 1997. A superb, mostly downhill race gently descending into historic Stillwater, Minnesota, it's been known as one of the fastest courses around. Runners have set personal records on this course since the very beginning. The scenic route brings runners into historic downtown Stillwater from the north passing parksand farms on rural roads with bluff views along the way showcasing the Federally protected St. Croix River and surrounding valley.

Learn how expert photographers have evolved over the years and how you can capture the beauty of your local park! Waterfowl Production Areas prioritize the restoration and protection of habitat for the benefit of migratory birds and other wildlife. They provide extraordinary opportunities to witness the wonders of wildlife on nature’s terms. Since retiring 10 years ago Mark Ritzinger’s curiosity as an avid birder and photographer have taken him to all 48 of the district’s WPAs and impressed upon him the importance of preserving and protecting wild spaces. Grab your camera and join Ritzinger and members of the Friends of the St. Croix Wetland Management District for a morning photographing birds and all things wild Saturday, September 19. Ask your questions in real time about what you’re seeing and how to capture the moment. Observe how wildlife relates to specific habitats and how that knowledge can help you make better photographs.
